EPP’s Dan Hampson and SENIUS’ Johnny Anderson hosted a tour of UK bakeries operating tunnel ovens across England and Wales, highlighting the importance of long-term customer support in maintaining oven performance and reliability. The visits combined annual health checks, maintenance tasks and training with discussions around the latest innovations, customer priorities and future operational needs, while highlighting the strength of a partnership that spans more than 50 years.
The tour saw Hampson and Anderson meet with existing and prospective tunnel oven users in locations such as Blackburn, Barnsley, Cardiff, Nottingham and Newark. Discussions covered topics from sustainability and production planning to future investment, but a consistent theme emerged across every site visited. The purchase of a tunnel oven is not the end of the customer relationship, but the start of an ongoing partnership focused on maintaining performance, reliability and efficiency throughout the oven’s working life.
The visits highlighted the critical role that aftercare plays in maximising oven performance and extending operational life with the pair encountering several bakeries operating SENIUS ovens that have been running successfully for more than 30 years. The longevity of these systems demonstrated the importance of structured maintenance programmes and long-term technical support.
Through annual servicing, health checks, spare parts support, training programmes and service contracts, EPP and SENIUS work together to help bakeries get the best performance from their ovens throughout their working life. This ongoing support also reinforces the importance of proactive maintenance, ensuring customers plan-ahead, minimise disruption and extend asset life rather than waiting for equipment failures to occur.
Dan Hampson, Aftercare Sales Manager at EPP, commented: “One of the highlights of the tour was meeting customers who are incredibly proud of their bakeries and the machinery that keeps them running. We saw SENIUS ovens that have been operating reliably for decades, proving that if you look after the equipment, it’ll look after you. The conversations reinforced how important aftercare is to achieve the best performance from an oven throughout its working life. They also highlighted the value of proactive maintenance. By planning servicing in advance and during quieter times, ensures bakeries can avoid many of the issues that lead to downtime and disruption. At EPP our role is to help customers get the most from their investment throughout the lifecycle of the equipment.”
The tour also demonstrated the value customers place on the close working relationship between EPP and SENIUS. As SENIUS’ UK partner, EPP provides local expertise and service support, ensuring bakery operators have access to ongoing guidance long after installation has been completed.
Johnny Anderson of SENIUS added: “Our relationship with EPP has been built over more than 50 years and remains one of the key strengths we can offer customers in the UK and Ireland. The tour gave us the opportunity to understand customer priorities and demonstrate that support continues long after an oven leaves the factory.”
Following the success of the first tour, the pair will reunite in October to visit bakeries across Scotland and Ireland, continuing their commitment to strengthening customer relationships and supporting the long-term success of the baking industry.
